  • Our Friends at Autism Speaks are Seeking your Help

Our Friends at Autism Speaks asked us to spread the word about a survey they are encouraging people to fill out.

As many in our community know, over the course of the next decade, more than 500,000 individuals with autism will enter adulthood.

Finding secure housing and residential supports for adults with Autism can be very challenging.

The folks at Autism Speaks want to quantify and characterize the housing needs of individuals with autism in the United Stats through the first-of-its-kind National Housing and Residential Supports Survey.

We encourage everyone to take about 10-15 minutes to fill out this survey.

The survey is designed for individuals with autism ages 14 and older and their caregivers. They would especially like to encourage more individuals with Autism to fill it out.

Please be assured that the information that people provide will be confidential.

As of today there is at least one Autism Light from every state in the United States of America featured on this blog. Some of the larger states like California and New York have several Autism Lights but each state has at least one.

One of the most important things you will give your children, as parents, is an understanding of the work ethic. It is important that they learn how to organize and run their days so that they can become productive adults. It is also important that they understand what it means to work, and are allowed the pride and feeling of accomplishment that comes along with a job well done. The way to start them on this path is to assign to them typical everyday chores from as early an age as possible.
