We are very excited at the responses of our podcast, "Life With Autism: Autisable Dads" on The Coffee Klatch Special Needs Radio.
In our first episode we discussed Sensory Issues, a common challenge for both individuals who have sensory issues - and the parents who are trying to help. In this episode Rob and Joel address these issues from a father's perspective.

In our second episode we dived into the topic of support systems. This isn't just about organizations that help at a local level, but about making sure parents/caregivers are getting support for themselves to be able to help their children be the best that they can be.
As mentioned in the show, there are several non-profits that can assist at a local level. Networking with others is key when creating a support system.
For the United States, we encourage folks to connect with their local Autism-Society.org affiliate. They keep an extensive searchable database of businesses and organizations that can assist. Since each locality offers different resources that can help your child, check out their database at AutismSource.com.
Many children on the spectrum have a tendency to wander/elope. We suggest touching base with Project Lifesaver International. Project Lifesaver works with first responders and several businesses in the tech industry to provide a layer of support and some peace of mind to parents challenged in this area.
For the United Kingdom, we suggesting connecting to the folks at The National Autistic Society. Like Autism Society in the USA, they have many affiliate locations spread throughout the UK.
Of course we encourage families to connect to each other and share their journey. We're all in this together. When we are able to work together, we can help each other be the best we can be.
